If your family has a child or teenager with discipline problems, then you might need a guidance counselor with the professional experience to treat children. A professional counselor should know about activities that you can engage in with your children to improve their educational potential, behavior, employment potential, and discipline. It is important to remember that not all children are alike, so the guidance counselor might insist on your learning some family parenting tips and activities that can help you communicate better with a troubled or defiant teenager or child. This does not mean that your parenting is necessarily bad, but taking a different approach to your kids can help them improve their own behaviors and help them find better ways to communicate themselves.
